A Small weight loss may reduce health risk

You may not need to lose as much weight as you think to see improvement in your health. A loss of 5% to 10% of your body weight can improve the risk of obesity-related diseases like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, bad cholesterol, sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis.

If surgical weight loss is indicated, patient undergoes thorough pre-op and post op evaluation and close follow up to prevent and treat any nutritional deficiencies. Patients also undergo periodic DXA scans as osteoporosis is a common occurrence after bariatric surgery.
